Spent most of today doing chores and cleaning, time to unwind a little bit.
Anytime someone on the #indieweb writes about using their own site with indieweb technologies to replace a siloed platform, the responses are always the same.
> This won't work because it requires technical knowledge.
> centralization is better for discoverability
> This doesn't have as many features.
The IndieWeb is still in a nascent stage. People are building the foundation carefully so we can expand on it to create a safe, private platform for everyone. This takes time.
1. Legislate to make OpenNIC support mandatory in the EU
2. Work with Let’s Encrypt to implement TLS support for OpenNIC domains (do 1 & 2 together)
Do this and you will free us from one (unnecessary) shackle preventing us from controlling the digital/networked aspects of our selves.
Reform 2 Rev 2 bringup in progress. works very well so far, except for PCIe issues in mainline (not a hardware issue afaik). hacky trackball situation will be replaced by a custom flex PCB that i need to solder again. and two battery packs are going into the empty corners. and then the case will be replaced by aluminum. and then that’s mostly it.
"The problem is the definition of 'good': For companies 'good' might imply people who are recurring customers, who buy too much and spend too much.
For governments 'good' might mean people who follow the rules and don't speak up. Ever. No matter what the government decides.
Either way, whether you want to please a company in the hope of getting a better deal or a government, any form of social credit system will lead to self-censorship."

I don't know. I just think information should be free. If you want to build a course on productivity, sure charge for it. However, if you're writing a blog or article, maybe it should be free. Maybe we should grow as a society, as the human race, together. Of course, we've all been raised with the message $ = success. So get that money. Put your work behind a paywall. It doesn't matter if it is good, as long as you have bank.
Just bought the Katana ZERO soundtrack and it's fucking awesome. It's also giving me nihilistic thoughts and feeding my depression, but whatever.

let me sum up the situation around #switchingsocial
Around September 20th, the original (anonymous) author of switching.social shut down its website and all related Social Media accounts, including mastodon
As there hasn't been any sign of life since then, I restored the website and created this new account. Right now I'm out of spare time to work on it, but that'll change in a few weeks
Please follow, dm and @ this account for everything related to the English version ... as @swisode wants to write German posts again
It's been one week since the #shutdown. There hasn't been any news from the original author yet. So, I believe, it's on us to keep this project alive.
Please stay tuned as I'll ask for support here - after some more preparations.
