It just occurred to me that using GitHub's #Dependabot the way they propose, our waste of compute resources (read: carbon dioxide) in CI will multiply.

Dependabot opens plenty of PRs. Then when something changes on the base branch, all PRs go through CI again.

Let's not take compute for granted. We must become smarter about our energy footprint!

i think there is a pressure onhere to be sharp and funny all the time, because that’s the kind of text that gets picked up and passed around because people enjoy it. that’s exhausting though, and it’s not something everyone’s good at anyway! i hope people onhere can feel free to be dull and normal and sincere and not particularly witty and just talk about normal stuff that’s on their minds, and know that it’s appreciated that we can all share these pieces of our selves with each other.

watching @aral tear into Facebook and centralised social media is inspiring and reminding me why I am studying digital culture and focusing on community building surrounding extended narratives. I want the internet to be small campfires where people tell stories and meet, not a big city square of protesters trying to shout louder than the soapboxers and snake oil salesmen.

I hope we get to see a proper decentralisation of social media and a realisation of our worth as databanks.
